Tesla Has Sold Out the Model Y for the Quarter in the United States
According to the automotive news website Electrek: Tesla has sold out Model Y in the United States this quarter, has exhausted the production capacity of Model Y this quarter, and will not produce more Tesla Model Y before April.
Tesla has experienced a surge in orders within the United States due to substantial price reductions and the introduction of a new federal tax credit of $7,500 for electric vehicles.
After reducing the price of the base Model Y by $13,000 earlier last month, the automaker has now increased it by $1,500 and updated the estimated delivery timeline to "Apr - Jun 2023."
In 2022, Tesla supplied nearly 200,000 electric vehicles in California, which is the largest EV market in the United States. It was also a record performance for Tesla. There's a vast potential for growth as electric vehicles comprise only 16% of new passenger vehicle sales in California.
Moreover, Tesla purchasers in California can enjoy an extra $2,000 incentive on top of the $7,500 federal tax credit, offering a significant boost for Tesla to maintain its dominance and continue expanding its presence in the state.
